Q. I talked to the teacher about a bullying situation that my son told me about, but the teacher insists that my son is provoking the situation and the school won’t do anything about it. What should I do? A. Regardless of whether a child is at the giving or receiving end of bullying, the school needs to deal with it. It may be that your son is a provocative victim, and does set himself up in bullying situations. If that is the case, the school should work with you to teach him some skills and strategies that will help him deal with challenging situations. Someone else may be setting your son up to be bullied, but you and your child need an adult to intervene. Make an appointment with the teacher. Explain that your child is still experiencing a problem and needs some help. Approach the meeting with problem-solving in mind. *Note - this question part of the book "How Parents Can Take Action Against Bullying"
