Q. What should I do if the school said they would investigate my concern and so far I can’t see that anything has been done about it? A. Call the person you initially spoke with and ask if any action has been taken. Remember that the Code of Ethics prevents educators from talking about any child except to the child’s primary care-givers. Therefore, if you are calling to find out what happened to the child that allegedly bullied your child, likely you won’t be able to find out. However, you should expect to find out the general action that has been taken. If nothing has happened, ask for an explanation, and arrange a date to call when you can expect an answer. If you think that your child’s safety and/or well being are in jeopardy, state that, and ask what you can expect to happen and when. *Note - this question part of the book "How Parents Can Take Action Against Bullying"

concerned mom My child has been bullied from the first day of school. We are now into the third quarter and she is still being bullied. My husband and I followed the "chain of command" and we first talked to the teacher, then the principal and then the superintendent. Nothing has changed. What are our options now. My daughter does not want to go to school. She wants to change schools just to get away from these two particular girls that are bullying her. |

another concerned mom The same thing is happening to my daughter who is in Grade 6. I requested a meeting with the school, parents of all involved and the students. It has now been over 2 weeks and I have still heard nothing. I have spoke with one of the girls parents and she believes her child is not involved, although I have mean text messages sent to my childs cell from her child, as well as one of the other bullies. Also, have met with another parent who has her daughter being bullied by the same girls and she also has not had anyone address the situation fully. We are thinking about home schooling to get our daughter out of the situation. |
